Exploited Body’s sophomore EP ‘Threnody’ is a departure from the club-forward sonics of his previous efforts, trading in the driving drums and feverish synths for a more obstreperous aesthetic. The EP starts off with the raw and eerie ‘I Was Never Enough’ that examines the unsettling feelings of inadequacy that come with depression and anxiety. The track’s disjointed drums and buzzing drones build a wall of noise that eventually collapses, giving way to a cathartic melody and Noah’s heart-wrenching vocals screaming the refrain “you’ve had enough of me, I was never enough for you, and that’s a shame”.

The aptly-named ‘Dysphoria’ is a vicious and unnerving club track that relishes in it’s own extremity. The thunderous drums power through like a jackhammer while a harrowing atmosphere that slowly creeps in from the shadows and consumes the entire track, with sharp and cavernous metallic noises cutting through the tension. ‘Threnody’, the title-track of the EP, is a collaborative effort between Exploited Body and Helsinki-based producer APEAK. Skittering percussion crawls on as ominous synths bloom amidst the noisy synths while APEAK’s forlorn vocals gasp for air from beneath the heavy production.

Exploited Body’s ‘Threnody’ will be released on the 15th of March via Los Angeles-based label TAR.
